I really love forays into nature - when there is an opportunity to breathe fresh air, away from the bustle of the city. Unfortunately, we don’t go on a picnic often, but if we’re planning such a trip, it’s definitely for the whole day. And we definitely cook in the fresh air - after all, dishes brought from home are not as good as those cooked over an open fire. Alas, there are not many recipes that turn out delicious on the grill, unless, of course, you have outdoor cooking fans among your friends and acquaintances. But there are still a number of dishes that are very easy to prepare on a picnic even for the inexperienced. One of these recipes is pita bread with cheese. It’s really quite easy to make even for a beginner who is far from not only the barbecue, but also the kitchen in general. It is with great pleasure that I will share with you my secrets of preparing an excellent picnic snack - delicious pita bread with cheese on the grill. Recipe with photo at your service.

Ingredients:
- thin lavash;
- hard cheese;
- mayonnaise;
- greenery.

Recipe with photos step by step:

Nowadays a very large number of pita breads are sold: both thick and thin - whatever you like. For this recipe we need thin pita bread. It can be sold in different shapes - round, oval, square, rectangular. Square or rectangular pita bread is more suitable for us. But if you only have oval or round ones, don’t be discouraged, take them - you can either cut them, or still wrap them in an envelope, even if it’s tighter in the end. By the way, you can make lavash.

We cut the pita bread into squares, the sides of which are approximately 20 cm. If you use pita bread with round edges, then take this into account and make the size of the blanks for future envelopes larger. It's okay if the pita bread layer ends up being a little higher.

Three hard cheeses on a coarse grater. It is impossible to accurately calculate the amount of cheese; you can put more or less of it, it’s a matter of taste. When you make this pita bread for the first time, you will understand how much cheese to put in. To get the perfect lavash envelopes for you.

Grease each square of lavash with mayonnaise - a little, just to give the lavash some extra softness. But, I’ll tell you sincerely, this point is optional, I prepared this pita bread with cheese and without mayonnaise, it turned out very well. So if you are an ardent opponent of mayonnaise, you don’t have to use it at all. or do it yourself.

Place the cheese on the pita bread, spreading it over the entire surface, only retreating slightly at the edges.

Add some herbs to the cheese to your taste - dill, parsley, green onions, basil - anything will do. Don't forget to cut the greens first.

We roll the pita bread with cheese into an envelope, folding the edges one at a time. This is not difficult, intuitively you will do everything correctly if you are preparing such envelopes for the first time.

This is what your envelopes might look like. They need to be prepared before the wood in the barbecue burns into coals.

Place the lavash envelopes with cheese on the grill grate.

And then we send it directly to the grill. Bake the pita bread with cheese until golden brown appears on the surface of the envelopes. In this case, the filling - cheese - will have time to melt. I really like how delicious pita bread with cheese turns out on the grill with delicious fried strips. The recipe is with a photo, so you can see them for yourself in all their glory, these stripes.

In my opinion, this kind of pita bread with cheese is good hot, but when cooled down it’s not bad at all.

I hope you liked this delicious pita bread with cheese on the grill, and the recipe with photos will help you make it yourself without any problems.

Tips and tricks:
As a rule, we prepare such pita bread with cheese when we start steaks or kebabs. In this case, you should fry the pita bread immediately after the meat. The fact is that lavash cooks quickly, much faster than meat on the grill, which means that with this order the meat will not have time to cool down. If you do the pita bread first. And then shish kebab, the pita bread will definitely cool down while the meat is on the fire.
If you wish, you can add the filling to your taste. Sometimes I add finely chopped fresh tomatoes to the cheese, sometimes I add pesto sauce, and depending on my mood, I add bell peppers or Korean carrots. Don't be shy, try it out, experiment. Cooking loves courage!

How to deliciously bake lavash with cheese on the grill

The first step is to light the grill.
The amount of greens can be any, to taste. I like it when there is a lot of greenery, so I took a bunch of each type.
Wash the greens and chop them, put them in a deep bowl.

The cheese can be cut into arbitrary pieces or grated on a coarse grater. Mix cheese with herbs.

Chop the ham into medium pieces and place in a bowl. Ham can be replaced with boiled meat or sausage.

Wash and cut the tomatoes, sour cucumber and bell pepper into pieces (don't forget to remove the seeds from the pepper).

Mix all the ingredients for the lavash filling thoroughly. If desired, you can add salt or ground pepper.

Thin lavash, usually folded in four, cut in half, and you will get 8 layers: such layers are more convenient to fold and then eat.

Roll the filled pita bread like pancakes.

Having rolled up all the portioned lavash “pancakes”, immediately start baking them on the grill so that the sandwiches do not start to get soggy.

For the convenience of baking pita bread with cheese, use a wire rack.

The fire should not be open - use only well-burnt coals. Bake the pita bread for 5-10 minutes, constantly turning the grid with the pita bread so that it is evenly fried, the filling inside is well heated, and the cheese is melted.

You can serve pita bread with cheese whole or by cutting it diagonally. Don’t waste time and help yourself - this lavash is incredibly good while it’s hot and crispy.
